On August 31, 2023, the "la Caixa" Foundation and the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands have signed the agreement for the development of the INPhINIT "la Caixa" doctoral scholarship program.
The purpose of the agreement is to agree on collaboration between the signatory entities in relation to the development of the INPhINIT «la Caixa» Doctoral Scholarship Program to pursue a doctoral program at Spanish or Portuguese universities and research centers.

The beneficiaries of the INPhINIT «la Caixa» doctoral scholarship program result from the selection processes carried out by the «la Caixa» Foundation. The «la Caixa» Foundation evaluates the applications received through independent committees, in accordance with the program bases. Candidates must provide all required documentation. The official list of beneficiaries and reserves is published, at the end of the corresponding selection process, on the “la Caixa” Foundation website. It contains the name and surname of the beneficiaries.

The IAC hires, in accordance with current legislation, through an employment contract, the selected beneficiaries who want to study one of its doctoral programs in the academic year immediately after obtaining the scholarship, provided that they meet the requirements. of access and admission to the doctoral program and, therefore, can formalize their enrollment in it. Consequently, the IAC, in its capacity as employer, will assume all the corresponding obligations related to said contract, especially the monthly payment of salary, Social Security contributions or possible compensation.

The "la Caixa" Foundation will contribute to the IAC, an amount over three years that must be used entirely to cover the beneficiary's expenses. This amount is broken down into the following concepts:

– 107,400 euros (35,800 euros per year) which will be used to cover the beneficiary's labor costs during the three years of the financial award.

– 10,500 euros (3,500 euros per year) that will be allocated to the expenses necessary for the development of the beneficiary's research activities such as registration and travel expenses to attend conferences, research stays, consumables, equipment, participation in courses, all they duly justified.

– The annual enrollment expenses in the official doctoral program to which the predoctoral researcher will be admitted.
