  • In-Flight Performance of the Virgo Solar Irradiance Instruments on SOHO
The in-flight performance of the total and spectral irradiance instruments within VIRGO (Variability of solar IRradiance and Gravity Oscillations) on the ESA/NASA Mission SOHO (SOlar and Heliospheric Observatory) is in most aspects better than expected. The behaviour during the first year of operation of the two types of radiometers and the

  • Incompressibility of hot nuclear matter and general relativistic stellar collapse
We have made a series of hydrodynamic calculations of core collapsing models to examine the effects of temperature dependence of nuclear compressibility. With this aim we have focused on the influence of the equation of state derived by Viñas et al. for two extreme types of nuclear interactions. A Multigroup Trapping Scheme for neutrino transport

  • Incompressibility of hot nuclear matter, general relativistic stellar collapse and shock propagation
Research was carried out on the effect of considering two extreme kinds of Skyrme-type nuclear interactions on the outcome of stellar core collapsing models. Particular attention was given to dissociation effects generated by the shock. Neutrinos transport is included via a multigroup trapping scheme.

  • Indirect evidence for an active radio pulsar in SAX J1808.4-3658 during quiescence
Millisecond radio pulsars are neutron stars that have been spun-up by the transfer of angular momentum during the low-mass X-ray binary phase. The transition from an accretion-powered to a rotation-powered pulsar takes place on evolutionary timescales at the end of the accretion process, however it may also occur sporadically in systems undergoing
