We report the results from a photometric and spectroscopic survey of ˜1.4 deg2 of the young open cluster IC 2602. Fourteen objects have been identified as having magnitudes, spectral types and radial velocities consistent with being probable or possible low-mass stellar members of the cluster. We have used the observed location of the lithium

Identification of Neodymium in the Apogee H-Band Spectra
We present the detection of 10 lines of singly ionized neodymium (Nd ii, Z = 60) in H-band spectra using observations from the SDSS-III Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE) survey. These lines were detected in a metal-poor ([Fe/H] ∼ ‑1.5), neutron-capture element-enhanced star recently discovered in the APOGEE sample

Imaging resources for the GTC: IPHAS
IPHAS is a deep, fully photometric H α survey of the northern Galactic plane carried out with the Isaac Newton telescope at La Palma. The IPHAS point source Hα catalogue (complete up to r=19.5 mag) will be a prime source for GTC programs related to important short-lived (and poorly known) stages of evolution: pre- and post-main sequence stars, the

Imaging resources for the GTC: the Local Group Census
The Local Group Census is a narrowband imaging survey aimed at cataloguing the emission-line populations in the galaxies of the Local Group. Data, which were obtained using the Wide Field Camera of the 2.5m Isaac Newton Telescope, are available to the whole astronomical community, resulting in a valuable imaging resource for follow-up spectroscopy

IMF shape constraints from stellar populations and dynamics from CALIFA
In this Paper, we describe how we use stellar dynamics information to constrain the shape of the stellar initial mass function (IMF) in a sample of 27 early-type galaxies from the CALIFA survey. We obtain dynamical and stellar mass-to-light ratios, Υdyn and Υ*, over a homogenous aperture of 0.5 Re. We use the constraint Υdyn≥Υ* to test two IMF
