Descripción
We describe the construction and the properties of the SWIRE-SDSS database, a preliminary derivation of the Far-Infrared Local Luminosity Functions at 24/70/160 micron based on such a database and ways in which VO tools will allow to refine and extend such work.In detailing the various steps of our multi-wavelength work we outline the richness as well as the limitations of traditional archival astronomy and suggest ways in which VO tools might be enhanced and/or rethought to further enable such research.
