Descripción
The Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias is undertaken the necessary steps towards the construction of a new technology 8 metre class telescope to be installed at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (ORM) in the spanish island of La Palma. The main characteristics of the envisaged telescope are: excellent image quality, low thermal emissivity, high reliability of the telescope and instruments, and high efficiency of the operations. First light for the telescope is expected by the year 2001.
