  • Photometric multi-site campaign on massive B stars in the open cluster χ Persei (NGC 884)
In 2005 a photometric observation campaign started on the open cluster χ Persei, involving 13 telescopes spread over the whole northern hemisphere. After two years we gathered almost 1200 hours of data. We present here preliminary results on the variability search, especially from the 60-cm telescope in Bialków (Poland), which show seven confirmed

  • Photometric Variability of the Gravitational Lens 0142-100 (UM 673)
We present the results of a photometric CCD monitoring of the gravitational lens system UM 673 that took place from 1995 to 2000. In total, the doubly imaged quasar (QSO) was observed in the R band during 29 photometric nights, using optical telescopes with dimensions in the range 0.6-1.3 m. We detected a significant variability in the total light

  • Photometry and asteroseismology of delta Scuti stars in Praesepe
We discuss observations and seismic analyses for three multi-periodic delta Scuti stars in the Praesepe cluster: BU, BN and BV Cnc. For two stars (BU and BN Cnc) we re-analyse published photoelectric photometry and show that using statistical weights results in a dramatic reduction in the noise level. We detect seven frequencies in BU Cnc and eight

  • Physical and dynamical properties of the anomalous comet 249P/LINEAR
Images and low-resolution spectra of the near-Earth Jupiter family comet (JFC) 249P/LINEAR in the visible range obtained with the instrument OSIRIS in the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) (La Palma, Spain) on January 3, 4, 6 and February 6, 2016 are presented, together with a series of images obtained with the 0.4m telescope of the Great

  • Physical conditions derived from O II recombination lines in planetary nebulae and their implications
Based on high quality observations of multiplet V1 of O II and the NLTE atomic computations for O II we study the density and temperature of a sample of PNe. We find that, in general, the densities derived from recombination lines of O II are similar to the densities derived from forbidden lines. This implies that the signature for oxygen rich

  • Planck intermediate results. XXV. The Andromeda galaxy as seen by Planck
The Andromeda galaxy (M 31) is one of a few galaxies that has sufficient angular size on the sky to be resolved by the Planck satellite. Planck has detected M 31 in all of its frequency bands, and has mapped out the dust emission with the High Frequency Instrument, clearly resolving multiple spiralarms and sub-features. We examine the morphology of
