  • Time-correlation of the solar p-mode velocity signal from GOLF
Since the launch of SOHO, the Solar Heliospheric Orbital Observatory, the helioseismic observations are nearly uninterrupted. The GOLF instrument (A. Gabriel et al., 1997) measures the mean velocity integrated over the disk. The autocorrelation function of this velocity shows two main features: Firstly, the initial decrease of the peak amplitudes

  • An Hermitian Method for the Solution of Polarized Radiative Transfer Problems
Spectral synthesis calculations in stellar (magnetized) atmospheres are based on the solution of the radiative transfer equation (RTE) for polarized light. The thermodynamic and magnetic properties of the atmospheres, along with the radiation field, completely specify the basic ingredients of the RTE, after which numerical methods have to be

  • Photometry and asteroseismology of delta Scuti stars in Praesepe
We discuss observations and seismic analyses for three multi-periodic delta Scuti stars in the Praesepe cluster: BU, BN and BV Cnc. For two stars (BU and BN Cnc) we re-analyse published photoelectric photometry and show that using statistical weights results in a dramatic reduction in the noise level. We detect seven frequencies in BU Cnc and eight

  • Infrared flux excesses from hot subdwarfs. II. 72 more objects
In our search, started in February, 1994, for JHK excess fluxes among the hot subdwarf population as an indicator for the presence of binary companions, results for 72 more hot objects (=63 hot subdwarfs + 1 Horizontal Branch B star + 7 white dwarfs + 1 non-subdwarf object) observed with the Carlos Sanchez CVF IR photometer (in June and October
