    IN FAVOUR OF A DARK SKY
    This afternoon, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Starlight Declaration of La Palma, (recognized internationally for the quality of its sky) the organizers of the multidisciplinary conference "Preserving the Skies" will welcome the participants after the inauguration of several related exhibitions.

    From 18th to 21st April the international multidisciplinary conference "Preserving the Skies", organized to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Starlight Declaration, will be celebrated on La Palma. The celebration will also include numerous activities in the island, for the general public, in order to remember the need to protect the night sky and the right to observe the stars

    The preparatory phase for the final design of the European Solar Telescope begins
    The EST (European Solar Telescope) project, led by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) to construct the largest solar telescope in Europe in the Canary Island Observatories, will be receiving 4 million euros from the European Commission, of the 11 million which will be needed for the preparatory phase. In this way the European Unión gives renewed support to this research infrastructure, selected as strategic in March 2016.
