  • Sampling and Characterization of the Turbulence Vertical Distribution. Statistics of SCIDAR Profiling

Unlike the trial procedures, a reliable characterization of the vertical turbulence distribution on a site should be based in unbiased statistical sample criteria. The sample size is as important as the criteria under which it is taken. We present here the statistical results of the optical turbulence profiles at the Roque de los Muchachos

  • SAX J2103.5+4545, A Peculiar HMXRB Observed by INTEGRAL

We present an INTEGRAL data analysis of the X-ray transient SAX J2103.5+4545 during December 2002. The source showed two type-I outbursts in this period. The INTEGRAL location agrees with the position of the recently proposed optical counterpart. A power-law model was fitted to the 10 100 keV spectrum and a photon index of 2.5±0.1 was derived. The

  • Scattering Polarization of the Ca II IR Triplet for Probing the Quiet Solar Chromosphere

The chromosphere of the quiet Sun is a very important stellar atmospheric region whose thermal and magnetic structure we need to decipher in order to unlock new discoveries in solar and stellar physics. To this end, we need to identify and exploit observables sensitive to weak magnetic fields (B

  • SDSS WD main-sequence binaries. XII. (Nebot Gomez-Moran+, 2011)

Table3.dat lists only radial velocities used for the identification of the binary as a close or wide binary candidate. Table4.dat contains the total number of spectra used for identification of the binary, the number of spectra from own spectroscopic follow-up observations and the statistical significance of the radial velocity variations. • Search for a Higgs boson in the mass range from 145 to 1000 GeV decaying to a pair of W or Z bosons

A search for a heavy Higgs boson in the H → WW and H → ZZ decay channels is reported. The search is based upon proton-proton collision data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of up to 5.1 fb-1 at √{s}=7 TeV and up to 19.7fb-1 at √{s}=8 TeV, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. Several final states of the H → WW and H → ZZ
