  • Stellar population models in the UV: I. Characterisation of the New Generation Stellar Library
We have fully characterized the NGSL stellar spectral library, which allows us to open the UV stellar spectral range for stellar population studies. We have performed the necessary steps to prepare this library for its implementation in models synthesizing SEDs of stellar cluster and galaxy spectra. We have determined and homogenized the

  • Stellar Populations and Kinematics of Red Galaxies at z > 2: Implications for the Formation of Massive Galaxies
We recently identified a substantial population of galaxies at z>2 with comparatively red rest-frame optical colors. These distant red galaxies (DRGs) are efficiently selected by the simple observed color criterion Js-Ks>2.3. In this paper we present near-infrared spectroscopy with Keck NIRSPEC of six DRGs with previously measured redshifts 2.4

  • Stellar Populations and the Local Group Membership of the Dwarf Galaxy DDO 210
We present deep BVI CCD photometry of the stars in the dwarf galaxy DDO 210. The color-magnitude diagrams of DDO 210 show a well-defined red giant branch (RGB) and a blue plume. The tip of the RGB is found to be at I_TRGB=20.95+/-0.10 mag. From this, the distance to DDO 210 is estimated to be d=950+/-50 kpc. The corresponding distance of DDO 210 to

  • Stellar Populations Gradients in Isolated Dwarf Galaxies
We present the star formation history (SFH) as a function of galactocentric radius for a sample of isolated dwarf galaxies from the Local Cosmology from the Isolated Dwarfs (LCID) project. The results show a decrease of the star formation with radius for stars with ages ≤ 9 Gyr. Star formation for ages ≥ 10 Gyr is present regardless of distance to
