  • Stellar Populations Gradients in Isolated Dwarf Galaxies
We present the star formation history (SFH) as a function of galactocentric radius for a sample of isolated dwarf galaxies from the Local Cosmology from the Isolated Dwarfs (LCID) project. The results show a decrease of the star formation with radius for stars with ages ≤ 9 Gyr. Star formation for ages ≥ 10 Gyr is present regardless of distance to

  • Stellar Populations in the Outskirts of the Small Magellanic Cloud: No Outer Edge Yet
We report the detection of intermediate-age and old stars belonging to the SMC at 6.5 kpc from the SMC center in the southern direction. We show, from the analysis of three high-quality 34'×33' CMDs, that the age composition of the stellar population is similar at galactocentric distances of ~4.7, ~5.6, and ~6.5 kpc. The surface brightness profile

  • Stochasticity in galactic models
The effect of a spiral-like perturbation in the orbits of an axisymmetric galactic potential is studied using surfaces of section. It is found that the perturbation induces stochasticity and diffusion of orbits in phase space.

  • Stray-light effects on the solar intensity distribution
A description of the stray-light problem based on a radiative transfer approach is presented. The 2D convolution that describes the effect of the stray-light is recovered in this formalism. The controversy raised by the old normalization condition is satisfactorily eliminated within the present description. The present formalism is applied to
