  • The oversampling mode for CoRoT exo-field observations
CoRoT (Convection, Rotation and planetary Transits) is a satellite mission led by CNES. CoRot has been successfully launched on December 27th of 2006. One of its goals is to discover new exo-planets using the transit method. It observes stars and sample their emission light every 512 seconds leading to observing runs of 12000 light curves over a 6

  • The oxygen abundance gradient in M 101: The reliability of the P method
We present the oxygen abundance determination for 90 H II regions in the inner parts of the grand design galaxy M 101. The abundances were derived employing the P method (Pilyugin cite{Pilyugin2001a}). A comparison is made with previous determinations using another calibration and direct measurements of electron temperature to derive the oxygen

  • The participation of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias in the European Solar Telescope
This communication reviews the participation of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) in the design of the European Solar Telescope. Apart of being the coordinator institution of the whole project, and, as such, responsible for the project managing, the IAC leads several tasks like overall instrument definition or characterization of the

  • The Photodetector Array Camera and Spectrometer (PACS) for the Herschel Space Observatory
The Photodetector Array Camera and Spectrometer (PACS) is one of the three science instruments for ESA's far infrared and submillimeter observatory Herschel. It employs two Ge:Ga photoconductor arrays (stressed and unstressed) with 16 × 25 pixels, each, and two filled silicon bolometer arrays with 16 × 32 and 32 × 64 pixels, respectively, to

  • The planetary nebulae in NGC6822 revisited
Spectroscopic data for 20 PNe in the irregular galaxy NGC6822 have been studied. This represents 80% of the total sample of PNe candidates in this galaxy. We discuss the kinematics of PNe in comparison to the kinematics of the HI disk and the young and intermediate age populations. In addition the chemical abundances of the sample have been

  • The plenoptic camera as a wavefront sensor for the European Solar Telescope (EST)
The plenoptic wavefront sensor combines measurements at pupil and image planes in order to obtain wavefront information from different points of view simultaneously, being capable to sample the volume above the telescope to extract the tomographic information of the atmospheric turbulence. After describing the working principle, a laboratory setup
