  • The Fermi–GBM Three-year X-Ray Burst Catalog
The Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) is an all-sky gamma-ray monitor well known in the gamma-ray burst (GRB) community. Although GBM excels in detecting the hard, bright extragalactic GRBs, its sensitivity above 8 keV and its all-sky view make it an excellent instrument for the detection of rare, short-lived Galactic transients. In 2010 March

  • The FIP effect on late-type stellar coronae: from dwarfs to giants
We present an analysis of high resolution Chandra spectra of late-type stars. Our sample includes giant stars from the Hetzsprung gap to the ''clump'' phase, active stars that have similar fundamental parameters but which have followed quite different evolutionary paths, and RS CVn binary systems. Using a new technique based on the ratios of

  • The First Billion Years project: the escape fraction of ionizing photons in the epoch of reionization
Protogalaxies forming in low-mass dark matter haloes are thought to provide the majority of ionizing photons needed to reionize the Universe, due to their high escape fractions of ionizing photons. We study how the escape fraction in high-redshift galaxies relates to the physical properties of the halo in which the galaxies form, by computing

  • The flow field in the sunspot canopy
Aims.We investigate the flow field in the sunspot canopy using simultaneous Stokes vector spectropolarimetry of three sunspots (θ=27°, 50°, 75°) and their surroundings in visible (630.15 and 630.25 nm) and near infrared (1564.8 and 1565.2 nm) neutral iron lines. Methods: .To calibrate the Doppler shifts, we compare an absolute velocity calibration

  • The formation of aromatic molecules in heavily obscured post-AGB stars with O-rich masers
We report Spitzer/IRS spectra of a small sample of heavily obscured and high mass loss post-AGB stars with O-rich maser emission. IRAM 30 m observations for two post-AGBs are also reported. The Spitzer/IRS spectra show the C-rich character of their circumstellar envelopes (CSE), as revealed by the presence of small hydrocarbon molecules such as
