  • Electric Dipole Emission by Fulleranes and Galactic Anomalous Microwave Emission
We study the rotation rates and electric dipole emission of hydrogenated icosahedral fullerenes (single and multishell) in various phases of the interstellar medium. Using the formalism of Draine & Lazarian for the rotational dynamics of these molecules in various astrophysical environments, we find effective rotation rates in the range 1-65 GHz

  • Embedded young stars in northern NGC 3372
Deep narrow-band (Brγ at 2.17μm and H_2 at 2.12μm) and broad-band (JHKs) near-infrared images are presented of the young regions Tr14-N4 and Car I. The observations were made with PANIC, attached to the Baade 6.5 m Magellan Telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. These were supplemented by archive Spitzer/IRAC images. Evidence is given of an

  • EMIR, the NIR MOS and Imager for the GTC
EMIR is one of the first common-user instruments for the GTC, the 10-meter telescope operating at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain). EMIR is being built by a Consortium of Spanish and French institutes led by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC). EMIR is primarily designed to be operated as a MOS in

  • Emission lines in EX Lup optical spectrum (Sipos+, 2009)
A high-resolution optical spectrum of EX Lupi was obtained on 2007 July 30 with FEROS at the 2.2m MPG/ESO telescope in ESO La Silla, Chile. The spectrum shows several emission lines in addition to the photospheric absorption features characteristic of the young late-type star. Here we present all emission lines identified in the spectrum, the

  • Enhanced Hα Emission in Early-Type Galaxies Belonging to Compact Groups
The results of Hα photometry of a sample of early-type galaxies belonging to nearby compact groups are presented. Over 75% of the galaxies in the sample were detected in Hα, a result that we have interpreted as proof of the presence of a warm interstellar medium within them. Comparing the Hα luminosities of the galaxies in our sample with those of
