  • Structure and evolution of low-mass Population II stars
The focus of the present paper is on the detailed description of the internal structures of low mass, population II stars, to clarify some issues about these stellar models and, mainly, their present reliability for observational comparisons. We then explore 1) the role of the local convective model; 2) the differences between "grey" and "non grey"

  • Structure and evolution of star-forming gas in late-type spiral galaxies
We study two dimensional Fabry-Perot interferometric observations of the nearby face-on late-type spiral galaxy, NGC 628. We investigate the role of the individual HII regions together with the large-scale gravitational mechanisms which govern star formation and overall evolution in spiral galaxies. Our kinematical analysis (reinforced by

  • Studies of cosmic microwave background structure at Dec.=+40 deg - II. Analysis and cosmological interpretation
We present a detailed analysis of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) structure in the Tenerife Dec.=+40 deg data. The effect of local atmospheric contributions on the derived fluctuation amplitude is considered, resulting in an improved separation of the intrinsic CMB signal from noise. Our analysis demonstrates the existence of common structure

  • Study of Jet Quenching with Z +jet Correlations in Pb-Pb and p p Collisions at √{s} N N=5.02 TeV
The production of jets in association with Z bosons, reconstructed via the μ+μ- and e+e- decay channels, is studied in p p and, for the first time, in Pb-Pb collisions. Both data samples were collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. The Pb-Pb collisions were analyzed in the 0%-30%

  • Study of Some Dynamical Phenomena in the Solar System
The number of minor bodies in the Solar System is continuing to increase. More than 30,000 asteroids have been discovered by 1996, and about 7,000 have been catalogued. About 855 comets had known orbits by 1994. The number of known planetary satellites reached 60 (1996). All these minor bodies require improved astrometry, also more accurate
