  • Cu, Ba and Y in FGK main-sequence stars from the HARPS sample
It is well known that at a given [Fe/H] below solar metallicities the thick disk stars are more enhanced in their alpha -element abundances than the thin disk. We report prelminary results for abundances of Cu, Ba and Y in a sample of 762 stars observed with the HARPS spectrograph. Precise and homogeneous abundance analysis reveals interesting

  • Astrometric and Photometric Mass Functions of the Old Open Cluster Praesepe from the UKIDSS GCS
Here we present the results of a wide-field (˜36 sq. deg.) near-infrared (ZYJHK) survey of the Praesepe cluster using the Data Release 9 (DR9) of the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS) Galactic Clusters Survey (GCS). We selected cluster candidates of Praesepe based on astrometry and photometry. With our candidate list, we have obtained the

  • Astrometric and Photometric Mass Functions in Open Clusters from UKIDSS GCS DR9
We present the results of a deep (J = 19. 1 mag) infrared (ZYJHK) survey of three open clusters surveyed by the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS) Galactic Clusters Survey (GCS) Data Release 9: the Pleiades, α Per, and Praesepe. We have selected cluster member candidates combining photometry in five near-infrared filters and proper motions

  • Uncovering the Deeply Embedded Active Galactic Nucleus Activity in the Nuclear Regions of the Interacting Galaxy Arp 299
We present mid-infrared (MIR) 8-13 μm spectroscopy of the nuclear regions of the interacting galaxy Arp 299 (IC 694+NGC 3690) obtained with CanariCam (CC) on the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC). The high angular resolution (~0.''3-0.''6) of the data allows us to probe nuclear physical scales between 60 and 120 pc, which is a factor of 10

  • The VLT-FLAMES Tarantula Survey. XII. Rotational velocities of the single O-type stars
Context. The 30 Doradus (30 Dor) region of the Large Magellanic Cloud, also known as the Tarantula nebula, is the nearest starburst region. It contains the richest population of massive stars in the Local Group, and it is thus the best possible laboratory to investigate open questions on the formation and evolution of massive stars. Aims: Using
