  • Changing Look of the Optical Spectrum of the MeV Blazar PKS 0446+112 (4FGL J0449.1+1121)
Following the high activity of the γ-ray Fermi source 4FGL J0449.1+1121 (PKS 0446+112), possibly associated with a IceCube neutrino event IC-240105A, we obtained optical spectroscopy with the Gran Telescopio Canarias of the counterpart. We detect a clear emission line at 3830 Å identified as Lyα that confirms the redshift of source at z = 2.153

  • Boron Abundances in Early B Dwarfs of the Galactic Open Cluster NGC 3293
New boron abundances or upper limits have been determined for eight early B stars in the young Galactic open cluster NGC 3293, using UV spectra obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope Cosmic Origins Spectrograph. With previous observations, there are now 18 early B stars in this cluster with boron measurements. Six of the newly observed stars have

  • Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope (AtLAST) science: The hidden circumgalactic medium
Our knowledge of galaxy formation and evolution has incredibly progressed through multi-wavelength observational constraints of the interstellar medium (ISM) of galaxies at all cosmic epochs. However, little is known about the physical properties of the more diffuse and lower surface brightness reservoir of gas and dust that extends beyond ISM

  • Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope (AtLAST) science: Surveying the distant Universe
During the most active period of star formation in galaxies, which occurs in the redshift range 1 < z < 3, strong bursts of star formation result in significant quantities of dust, which obscures new stars being formed as their UV/optical light is absorbed and then re-emitted in the infrared, which redshifts into the mm/sub-mm bands for these early

  • Asteroid reflectance spectra from Gaia DR3: Near-UV in primitive asteroids
Context. In the context of charge-coupled devices (CCDs), the ultraviolet (UV) region has mostly remained unexplored after the 1990s. Gaia DR3 offers the community a unique opportunity to explore tens of thousands of asteroids in the near-UV as a proxy of the UV absorption. This absorption has been proposed in previous works as a diagnostic of

  • Analysis of galaxies at the extremes: a kinematic analysis of the Virgo cluster dwarfs VCC 9 and VCC 1448 using the Keck cosmic web imager
We present spatially resolved Keck Cosmic Web Imager stellar spectroscopy of the Virgo cluster dwarf galaxies VCC 9 and VCC 1448. These galaxies have similar stellar masses and large half-light radii but very different globular cluster (GC) system richness (~25 versus ~99 GCs). Using the KCWI data, we spectroscopically confirm 10 GCs associated
