  • The SEGUE Stellar Parameter Pipeline. I. Description and Comparison of Individual Methods
We describe the development and implementation of the Sloan Extension for Galactic Exploration and Understanding (SEGUE) Stellar Parameter Pipeline (SSPP). The SSPP is derived, using multiple techniques, radial velocities, and the fundamental stellar atmospheric parameters (effective temperature, surface gravity, and metallicity) for AFGK-type

  • The Night Sky at the Calar Alto Observatory II: The Sky at the Near-infrared
We present the characterization of additional properties of the night sky at the Calar Alto observatory, following the study started by Sánchez et al. in 2007. We focus here on the night-sky brightness at the near-infrared, the telescope seeing, and the fraction of useful time at the observatory. For this study we have collected a large data set

  • The FR II Broad-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxy: PKS J1037-2705
In this article we demonstrate that PKS J1037-2705 has a weak accretion flow luminosity, well below the Seyfert 1/QSO dividing line, weak broad emission lines (BELs), and moderately powerful FR II extended radio emission. It is one of the few documented examples of a broad-line object in which the time-averaged jet kinetic luminosity, Q, is larger

  • T-Lyr1-17236: A Long-Period Low-Mass Eclipsing Binary
We describe the discovery of a 0.68+0.52 Msolar eclipsing binary (EB) with an 8.4 day orbital period, found through a systematic search of 10 fields of the Trans-atlantic Exoplanet Survey (TrES). Such long-period low-mass EBs constitute critical test cases for resolving the long-standing discrepancy between the theoretical and observational mass
