  • MIGHTEE-H I: possible interactions with the galaxy NGC 895
The transformation and evolution of a galaxy is strongly influenced by interactions with its environment. Neutral hydrogen (H I) is an excellent way to trace these interactions. Here, we present H I observations of the spiral galaxy NGC 895, which was previously thought to be isolated. High-sensitivity H I observations from the MeerKAT large survey

  • Mapping gas around massive galaxies: cross-correlation of DES Y3 galaxies and Compton-y maps from SPT and Planck
We cross-correlate positions of galaxies measured in data from the first three years of the Dark Energy Survey with Compton-y maps generated using data from the South Pole Telescope (SPT) and the Planck mission. We model this cross-correlation measurement together with the galaxy autocorrelation to constrain the distribution of gas in the Universe

  • Hyades Member K2-136c: The Smallest Planet in an Open Cluster with a Precisely Measured Mass
    K2-136 is a late-K dwarf (0.742 ± 0.039 M ⊙) in the Hyades open cluster with three known, transiting planets and an age of 650 ± 70 Myr. Analyzing K2 photometry, we found that planets K2-136b, c, and d have periods of 8.0, 17.3, and 25.6 days and radii of 1.014 ± 0.050 R ⊕, 3.00 ± 0.13 R ⊕, and 1.565 ± 0.077 R ⊕, respectively. We collected 93

  • Galaxy interactions are the dominant trigger for local type 2 quasars
The triggering mechanism for the most luminous, quasar-like active galactic nuclei (AGN) remains a source of debate, with some studies favouring triggering via galaxy mergers, but others finding little evidence to support this mechanism. Here, we present deep Isaac Newton Telescope/Wide Field Camera imaging observations of a complete sample of 48

  • Gaia Data Release 3. The Galaxy in your preferred colours: Synthetic photometry from Gaia low-resolution spectra
Gaia Data Release 3 provides novel flux-calibrated low-resolution spectrophotometry for ≃220 million sources in the wavelength range 330 nm ≤ λ ≤ 1050 nm (XP spectra). Synthetic photometry directly tied to a flux in physical units can be obtained from these spectra for any passband fully enclosed in this wavelength range. We describe how synthetic
