  • The bipolar outflow from the M-giant star HR 3126
HR 3126 is an M2 II giant surrounded by the bipolar reflection nebula IC2220. A sensitive R-band image obtained with the ESO 3.6 m telescope shows that the nebula has a size of at least 10', corresponding to a linear size of about 1 pc, and is extended in the east-west direction. CO(1-0), CO(2-1), and 13CO(1-0) maps obtained with the Swedish-ESO

  • Synoptic Map of the Subsurface Velocity Flows
A view of the horizontal velocity flows in the upper layers of the convection zone is presented. In order to produce the synoptic map, 120 sections of about 15 degrees square have been studied using a ring diagram analysis. The area analyzed extends 75 degrees in latitude and 360 degrees in longitude. The sections were individually tracked over

  • Structure Within the Local Bubble: Properties of Individual Clouds
We have used a combination of optical absorption spectroscopy, 21 cm HI mapping, and millimetric CO mapping, to explore the fine structure of the ISM clouds within 200 pc of the sun. We find examples of molecular cores within cold atomic clouds, cold atomic clouds within warm ionized clouds, and warm ionized clouds without cold cores (using

  • Stellar and ionized gas-velocity fields in the central regions of a sample of galaxies
Most of the information concerning the ionized gas and star kinematics in the central regions of galaxies is 1-Dimensional. This hampers the study of the velocity fields, specially for the ionized gas which in many cases exhibits a kinematics strongly decoupled from that of the stars. Here we present the velocity fields for the ionized gas and the
