Description
The Small Magellanic Cloud, also known as NGC 292, is an irregular galaxy orbiting the Milky Way. It has more than 30,000 million stars. At an approximate distance of 200,000 light years, it is one of the Milky Way?s closest neighbours. It is also one of the farthest objects visible to the naked eye. Due to its inclination (approximately -72 degrees), it is easier to observe from the Southern Hemisphere. It is located in the constellation Tucana.
