The 5th edition of the "Acércate al Cosmos" course has been held

After two years of absence due to the pandemic, the "Acércate al Cosmos" course organised by the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF), the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) returned to Tenerife from 4 to 8 July. During this week, 35 teachers of secondary schools took part in talks and workshops on the Sun, the Moon, the Solar System, Exoplanets, Stellar Evolution, the Chemistry of the Cosmos, Galaxies, Cosmology and Astrophotography, given by researchers and specialists from the IAC, the Museo de la Ciencia y el Cosmos (MCC), the University of La Laguna, among others.

The fifth edition of this training week, which aims to provide teachers with the necessary tools to find the most appropriate and stimulating way of incorporating astronomy-related content and dealing with current topics on astrophysics in the classroom, was held at the Museum of Science and the Cosmos of Museums of Tenerife. The participants also visited the IAC headquarters in La Laguna, the Teide National Park and the Teide Observatory.

The course, directed by the director of the IAC, Rafael Rebolo López, was also attended by Alfred Rosenberg (IAC), Antonio Eff-Darwich (ULL), Oswaldo González (MCC), Daniel López (elcielodecanarias.com), Irene Puerto (IAC), Nayra Rodríguez (IAC), Alberto Rubiño (IAC), Eva Villaver (IAC), Cristina Ramos (IAC) and Montserrat Armas (IAC).

Entre los días 23 y 27 de julio se celebra en Tenerife el III Curso sobre Astrofísica de la Universidad Internacional de Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) dirigido, por primera vez, a profesorado de educación infantil y primaria que, como en ediciones anteriores, cuenta con la participación del personal investigador del Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC).

Round table of the summer school "Acercate al Cosmos"
For the fourth successive year the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias and the National Institute for Educational Technology and Teacher Training (INTEF), in collaboration with the International Menéndez Pelayo University (UIMP) has given teachers of secondary and pre-university education the opportunity to get to know the latest discoveries in astrophysics in a course given by professionals, thereby acquiring the tools for using them afterwards in the classroom.
