Rosa M. Tristán is one of the pioneers of the speciality of Science and the Environment in the Spanish press. She was the founder of the first section dedicated to these matters in a national newspaper -El Mundo- which for her meant “a privileged gateway to knowledge” as she herself puts it. Now she is working among other projects, in her own medium “Laboratory for sapiens”, with its own news section and a good number of subscribers and visits. Patricia Fernández de Lis is the Editor in Chief of the Science and Technology section of El País, due to an agreement reached by this outstanding newspaper with Materia, the science information website created by the team which runs Science section of Público when the printed version of that newspaper had closed down. She will be one of the speakers in “100Xciencia” a forum where journalists and scientists will be able to debate about the role of the popularization of science.

Javier Gregori is a specialist in Science and the Environment, and Works in the Cadena SER (the Spanish radio channel with the biggest audience) where he works as a science journalist. He will attend the “100XCIENCIA” forum which will be held on La Palma, with enthusiasm to share experiences with science journalists, and with those whom he himself has termed the “Crown Jewels of Spanish Science”, the representatives of the Severo Ochoa centres.

Pablo Jáuregui has been one of the pioneers of science journalism in Spain. He has been writing for many years about science in one of the most widely read media in Spanish, El Mundo. He praises the work done by science bloggers, but insists that there is a difference between their work and that of the journalists. For him they are complementary but not substitutes. In “100XCIENCIA” he will be able to share this view with science and specialized communicators. This will take place in La Palma from 7th to 9th October.

Kenneth Chang covers several subjects: chemistry, geology, physics... Instead of receiving a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois he attended the science writing program at University of California at Santa Cruz. He worked at The Los Angeles Times, the Greenwich Time in Connecticut, The Newark Star-Ledger and ABCNEWS.com prior to joining the Times in 2000.
