  • B -> X_s gamma and B^+ -> l^+
    u in the 2HDM type III
    We consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of type III which leads to Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) at tree level. In the framework of this model we calculate the NLO contribution for b->s gamma and the branchings for the meson decays B^+ -> l^+ u. We examine the limits on the new parameters lambda_{bb} and M_{H^pm}. We take into

  • B fields in OB stars (BOB). Detection of a strong magnetic field in the O9.7 V star HD 54879
    The number of magnetic stars detected among massive stars is small; nevertheless, the role played by the magnetic field in stellar evolution cannot be disregarded. Links between line profile variability, enhancements/depletions of surface chemical abundances, and magnetic fields have been identified for low-mass B-stars, but for the O-type domain

  • B polarization of the CMB from Faraday rotation
    We study the effect of Faraday rotation due to a uniform magnetic field on the polarization of the cosmic microwave background. Scalar fluctuations give rise only to parity-even E-type polarization of the cosmic microwave background. However in the presence of a magnetic field, a nonvanishing parity-odd B-type polarization component is produced

  • Balmer Filaments in Tycho’s Supernova Remnant: An Interplay between Cosmic-ray and Broad-neutral Precursors
    We present Hα spectroscopic observations and detailed modeling of the Balmer filaments in the supernova remnant (SNR) Tycho (SN 1572). We used GH α FaS (Galaxy Hα Fabry–Pérot Spectrometer) on the William Herschel Telescope with a 3.‧4 × 3.‧4 field of view, 0.″2 pixel scale, and {σ }{instr}=8.1 km s‑1 resolution at 1″ seeing for ∼10 hr, resulting in

  • Basaltic asteroids in the Near-Earth Objects population: a mineralogical analysis
    Aims.We present reflectance spectra of three V-type Near-Earth Objects obtained at the 3.6 m Telescopio Nazionale Galileo and at the 2.5 m Nordic Optical Telescope covering the near-infrared and visible range, respectively. The range from 0.5 to 2.5 μm, encompassing the 1 and 2 μm pyroxene features, allows a mineralogical characterization of these

  • Bayesian bulge-disc decomposition of galaxy images
    We introduce PHI, a fully Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm designed for the structural decomposition of galaxy images. PHI uses a triple layer approach to effectively and efficiently explore the complex parameter space. Combining this with the use of priors to prevent non-physical models, PHI offers a number of significant advantages for
