  • Pulsation, binarity and close frequency spacing in $delta Scuti ta$ Scuti stars: BQ and BW Cancri. Results of the STEPHI VI campaign in Praesepe Cluster
New pulsation modes in two delta Scuti stars of Praesepe cluster, BQ and BW Cnc, have been detected during the STEPHI VI campaign in 1995. In particular, 3 frequencies for BQ Cnc and 9 frequencies for BW Cnc have been found above a 99% confidence level. The possibility of the presence of a g-mode present in BQ Cnc is discussed, considering its

  • Pulsational amplitude growth of the star KIC 3429637 (HD 178875) in the context of Am and ρ Pup stars
KIC 3429637 (HD 178875) is a δ Sct star whose light curve shows continuous pulsational amplitude growth in Kepler mission photometry. Analysis of the three largest amplitude peaks in the Fourier transform indicates different growth rates for all three. We have ruled out instrumental causes, and determine the amplitude growth to be intrinsic to the

  • Pulsations and eclipse-time analysis of HW Vir
We analysed recent K2 data of the short-period eclipsing binary system HW Vir, which consists of a hot subdwarf-B type primary with an M-dwarf companion. We determined the mid-times of eclipses, calculated O-C diagrams, and an average shift of the secondary minimum. Our results show that the orbital period is stable within the errors over the

  • PyEmir: Data Reduction Pipeline for EMIR, the GTC Near-IR Multi-Object Spectrograph
EMIR is the near-infrared wide-field camera and multi-slit spectrograph being built for Gran Telescopio Canarias. We present here the work being done on its data processing pipeline. PyEmir is based on Python and it will process automatically data taken in both imaging and spectroscopy mode. PyEmir is begin developed by the UCM Group of

  • QSOs and the survey OTELO
OTELO is a survey of emission-line objects that will be carried out using tunable filters with OSIRIS at the GTC. The survey will have a deep impact on extragalactic astronomy due to its large area and its high sensitivity. In this paper we present new estimations of the number of QSOs that are expected to be found with this unique survey.

  • Quantitative spectroscopy of O-stars in the Magellanic Clouds. I - The young open cluster NGC 346 in the SMC
Results are presented on a non-LTE analysis of high-resolution Cassegrain echelle CCD spectra of the four most luminous stars in the NGC 346 cluster in the SMC, obtained with the ESO 3.6-m telescope, making it possible to estimate the age of the NGC 346 cluster and to trace its evolution. The results yield the effective temperatures, gravities
