  • TOI-150: A Transiting Hot Jupiter in the TESS Southern CVZ
We report the detection of a hot Jupiter ({M}p={1.75}-0.17+0.14 {M}{{J}}, R p = 1.38 ± 0.04 R J) orbiting a middle-aged star ({log}g={4.152}-0.043+0.030) in the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) southern continuous viewing zone (β = ‑79.°59). We confirm the planetary nature of the candidate TOI-150.01 using radial velocity observations

  • The Stellar Atmosphere Physical System II. An Operative Sequential Algorithm to Solve the Stellar Atmosphere Problem
In this paper, the second and the last of the series, we present a sequential algorithm to solve the stellar atmosphere problem that may serve as a paradigm for the solution of more general non-linear and non-local problems. The Iteration Factors (IF) Method is applied to achieve a solution of the radiative transfer equations, consistent with the

  • The Main Sequence at z ∼ 1.3 Contains a Sizable Fraction of Galaxies with Compact Star Formation Sizes: A New Population of Early Post-starbursts?
Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) measurements for 93 Herschel-selected galaxies at 1.1 ≤ z ≤ 1.7 in COSMOS reveal a sizable (>29%) population with compact star formation (SF) sizes, lying on average >×3.6 below the optical stellar mass (M ⋆)–size relation of disks. This sample widely spans the star-forming main sequence (MS)

  • The Fundamental Metallicity Relation Emerges from the Local Anti-correlation between Star Formation Rate and Gas-phase Metallicity that Exists in Disk Galaxies
The fundamental metallicity relation (FMR) states that galaxies of the same stellar mass but larger star formation rate (SFR) tend to have smaller gas-phase metallicity ( {Z}g> ). It is thought to be fundamental because it naturally arises from the stochastic feeding of star formation from external metal-poor gas accretion, a process extremely

  • The Chromospheric Layer Spectro-Polarimeter (CLASP2) Sounding Rocket Mission: First Results
A major challenge for heliophysics is to decipher the magnetic structure of the chromosphere, because of its vital role in the transport of energy into the corona and solar wind. Routine satellite measurements of the chromospheric magnetic field will dramatically improve our understanding of the chromosphere and its connection to the rest of the

  • Temporal changes of the flare activity of Proxima Centauri
Context. We study temporal variations of the emission lines of Hα, Hɛ, H and K CaII, D1 and D2 NaI, He4026, and He5876 in the HARPS spectra of Proxima Centauri across an extended time of 13.2 yr, from May 27, 2004 to September 30, 2017. Aims: We analyse the common behaviour and differences in the intensities and profiles of different emission lines
