  • Chemical analysis of CH stars - III. Atmospheric parameters and elemental abundances
Elemental abundances of CH stars can provide observational constraints for theoretical studies on the nucleosynthesis and evolution of low- and intermediate-mass stars. However, available abundance data in literature are quite scanty. In our pursuit to generate a homogeneous data base of elemental abundances of CH stars we have performed a detailed

  • Assembly bias evidence in close galaxy pairs
The growth channel of massive galaxies involving mergers can be studied via close pairs as putative merger progenitors, where the stellar populations of the satellite galaxies will be eventually incorporated into the massive primaries. We extend our recent analysis of the GAMA-based sample of close pairs presented in Ferreras et al. to the general

  • AGB dust and gas ejecta in extremely metal-poor environments
We present asymptotic giant branch (AGB) models of metallicity Z = 10-4 and 3 × 10-4, with the aim of understanding how the gas enrichment and the dust production change in very metal-poor environments and to assess the general contribution of AGB stars to the cosmic dust yield. The stellar yields and the dust produced are determined by the change

  • Absolute dimensions of the low-mass eclipsing binary system NSVS 10653195
Context. Low-mass stars in eclipsing binary systems show radii larger and effective temperatures lower than theoretical stellar models predict for isolated stars with the same masses. Eclipsing binaries with low-mass components are hard to find due to their low luminosity. As a consequence, the analysis of the known low-mass eclipsing systems is

  • A super-Earth and two sub-Neptunes transiting the nearby and quiet M dwarf TOI-270
One of the primary goals of exoplanetary science is to detect small, temperate planets passing (transiting) in front of bright and quiet host stars. This enables the characterization of planetary sizes, orbits, bulk compositions, atmospheres and formation histories. These studies are facilitated by small and cool M dwarf host stars. Here we report

  • A steep bandpass interference filter with FWHM 11nm centered at 1254nm for studying Lyman Alpha signatures of highly redshifted galaxies
The presented new 1% narrowband filter centered at 1254nm with a FWHM of 11nm required and achieved excellent maximum transmission and deep out of band blocking. Magnetron sputtering was used for the filter coating process. The filter was used in the fully cryogenic near-infrared camera CIRCE of the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) Telescope. The
