Description
Location of the supernova remnant S147 between the horns of the Toro. The extension of the observed field is equivalent to 10x10 Moons in the sky. Very close to this field is another famous supernova remnant, Messier 1, also known as the Crab Nebula. The image has avoided the brightness of the star ß-Taurus (Elnath, meaning "the giver" in Arabic), the second brightest star in the constellation of the Bull after the star Aldebaran.
