The IAC is participating in the Weeks of Science and Innovation in the Canaries

The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) will participate with a number of different activities in Tenerife and La Palma within the framework of the Weeks of Science and Innovation organized by the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation, and the Information Society (ACIISI) of the Canary Regional Government, from 6th to 24th of November.

The main aim of these weeks is to promote and popularize scientific and innovative knowledge among the citizens, as well as to encourage the participation of the different participants in the system of R+D*I in the Archipelago. Each year this event brings in the participation of almost 400 education centres, and over 50,000 people, among students, teachers, and complete families.

On November 6th 7th and 8th there will be a Minifestival of Science in Tenerife, where the IAC will be present, among other institution, in the García Sanabria Park in Santa Cruz.

During the morning there will be workshops on the Periodic Table of the Elements, aimed only at schools, as well as observations of the Sun. The general public will be able to attend on Wednesday and Thursday from 17:00 to 20:00. There will be sets of questions and answers on specific themes, and six researchers from the IAC will be present, to give short outreach talks.

The programme of the IAC's activities in La Palma which will take place at mid-November, will be announced shortly.
