IACTec Espacio ha liderado el diseño y la construcción del instrumento que se lanzará mediante un globo estratosférico este domingo, 11 de noviembre, de la Plaza de la Constitución del municipio norteño. Desde que comience su ascenso, transmitirá imágenes en alta definición que podrán verse en directo.

On Friday 9th November the Winter School of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias will move to the Museum of Science and the Cosmos with a lectura about the use of Big Data in everyday life.

An international team, led by the astrophysicist Carolina von Essen, has used the OSIRIS spectrograph on the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) to study the chemical composition of a planet whose equilibrium temperature is around 3,200 °C.

Con motivo del 30 aniversario de la aprobación de la Ley del Cielo, el próximo miércoles, 7 de noviembre, el IAC y el equipo del Telescopio de Treinta Metros organizan un evento en el municipio palmero de Los Llanos de Aridane. Paralelamente a una fiesta de las estrellas, “Acércate a tu cielo”, que consistirá en un encuentro popular de observación astronómica y chocolatada, se añadirá una mesa redonda sobre “El valor del cielo de La Palma”, precedida de una apertura oficial.

This astronomical event will be visible from both northern and southern hemispheres, and the peak of its activity will be during the nights of Thursday 13th and Friday 14th December. During the second night there will be a direct broadcats from the Teide Observatory (Tenerife) thanks to the collaboration of the European project STAR4ALL.

This annual meeting for young researchers- doctoral students and postdocs- will be dedicated to the analysis of big data bases in Astronomy. It is taking place from November 5th to 10th in the assembly hall of the general lecture theatre building on the Guajara Campus of the University of La Laguna.
