The winners of the contest, whose objective is to raise awareness about the need to protect the night sky and promote scientific vocations, will join an astronomical expedition to witness live from the United States the total solar eclipse that will take place on August 21.

Astronomer Dr David Sobral is on a quest to trace the origins of the Universe and understand how galaxies like our own formed and evolved from the end of the cosmic dark ages to galaxies we see today, much like our own Milky Way. Astronomy and inquiry-based learning are the cornerstones of the third edition of this training course for STEM teachers, to be held from July 17 to 21 at the IAC headquarters in La Laguna (Tenerife). Tuition is free for Spanish teachers and registration will remain open until June 15 or until full capacity is reached.
