In order to familiarize students in the 4th year of their high school career with the science carried out at the astrophysical installations on La Palma, yesterday a new edition of this project began. It is a successor to projects in previous years, which have benefitted 4,800 students on the island.

The meeting, organized by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the Network of Astronomical Infrastructure (RIA for its initials in Spanish), aims to bring together Spanish experts in this theme to present the latest results, and to discuss the challenges ahead, and the technical and instrumental capacity for studying this field of astrophysics. The meeting will be held in the meeting hall of the Guajara Campus of the University of La Laguna (ULL) on October 27th and 28th.

The IAC will participate via its Sky Quality Protection Technical Office and its Sky Quality Group of the Canary Island Observatories.

The first edition of the prize, promoted by the "Activia" brand, recognizes the abilities of professional women in fields such as "Innovation and Enterprise"

After participating in the Severo Ochoa Visitors Program which aims at increasing the collaboration between IAC personnel and prestigious researchers from other leading scientific institutions, this astrophysicist from the Astronomical Observatory of Rome and professor at the University "Roma Tre" has collaborated with researchers from the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) studying the dust generated by AGB stars.
