Description
A sample of spiral galaxies is examined, applying moments analysis to their broad-band azimuthal profiles, in order to search for evidence of coherent large-scale star-forming processes in the form of star-formation fronts on one side of the arms. The methods employed enable to determine the position of Lindblad resonances and corotation, showing that the corotation radius is frequently a physical discontinuity of the morphology and properties of the spiral arms.
