A Combined Analysis of Jeans Kinematics and Milli-Second Pulsar Timing Effects: Probing the Mass Contents of Omega Centauri

Description
We explore the interplay between Jeans analyses of velocity dispersions and millisecond-pulsar (MSP) timing measurements that trace line-of-sight accelerations to analyze the kinematics of Omega Centauri, performing the first combined analysis of its kind. By using HST proper motion data and recent MSP kinematic measurements, we are able to tightly constrain the central mass contents of Omega Centauri, favoring the existence of an intermediate black hole (IMBH), as well as developing a model of the MSP distribution and a potential mass of stellar remnants associated with it. While existing MSP observations in Omega Centauri have limited constraining power and confirming the existence of an IMBH requires a more extensive analysis of the data and systematics involved, we introduce a methodology which may have promising prospects with the advent of future observations and when applied to other related systems.
