Description
In order to compare the use of the classical Fourier Transform and the Homomorphic Deconvolution (HD), ring diagram analysis using both techniques has been applied to a time series of a solar section to obtain the 3-dimensional power spectrum (kx - ky - ω). The series has a total span of 1536 minutes and the section covers about 15 times 15 degrees over the solar surface. The use of HD was expected to yield more precise results due to its adequation to non-stationary signals as those of solar p-modes. The spectra have been fitted in the frame of ring diagram analysis in order to get the horizontal velocities as a function of frequency. These results are quantitatively compared. Finally, both results were inverted to infer the depth dependence of the velocities.
