Description
The Two Micron Galactic Survey (TMGS) is the most sensitive near-infrared large scale survey of the Galactic plane yet attempted. The TMGS has so far covered some 2552 square degrees of sky to a limiting magnitude of mk ≍ +10 and detected some 470000 sources. The majority of these are in the Galactic plane and have no known visible counterparts. The TMGS is also detecting a number of dark nebulae, particularly towards the Galactic center.
