  • CCDs and CCD controllers for the GTC Day One
The need of the GTC for acquisition cameras, wavefront sensors and scientific instrumentation operating in the optical wavelength range has led to the acquisition of various CCDs and CCD controllers. Due to stringent science, mechanical and ambient requirements the initial idea to employ a general purpose controller had been dropped in favor of two

  • CdC-SF: Proper motion catalogue from Carte du Ciel plates, San Fernando Zone
We present an astrometric catalogue of positions and proper motions derived from the Carte du Ciel plates of the San Fernando zone, which has a mean epoch 1901.4 and a limiting magnitude V 15. Digitization has been made using a conventional flatbed scanner. Special techniques have been developed to handle the combination of plate material and the

  • Chandra Detection of a New Transient X-Ray Source in M31: CXOM31 J004245.9+411036; and Non-Detection of SWIFT J004320.5+411528
We report the discovery of a previously unseen X-ray source detected in a 5ks Chandra/ACIS observation starting on 2008-11-27.72 UT as part of our ongoing Chandra/HST M31 transient program. Its coordinates (subject to the standard boresight correction) are RA(J2000) 00:42:45.96, Dec(J2000) +41:10:36.60, with centroiding errors of 0.18" and 0.21"

  • Chandra Multiwavelength Plane (ChaMPlane) Survey: Initial X-ray Results
The ChaMPlane survey of the galactic plane ( ~100 ACIS fields over 5 years, selected for exposure at least ~20ksec, galactic latitude below ~10deg, and minimum column density NH), will provide the largest sample of faint galactic x-ray sources. The arcsec positions for most of these will allow unambiguous optical identifications from our NOAO Long

  • Chandra Multiwavelength Plane Survey (ChaMPlane): Photometry Results from the First Two Years
We present the photometric results of the Chandra Multiwavelength Plane Survey (ChaMPlane), which is a project to identify a large sample of serendipitous X-ray sources in the galactic plane, in order to determine the populations of accretion-powered binaries in the Galaxy. Deep Chandra field observations have sufficient sensitivity to reach
