  • Past, Present and Future of NOT from the IAC perspective
In this talk I reviewed some of the major scientific highlights produced in the past decade by Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (IAC) researchers using the Nordic Optical Telescope. I presented their main scientific lines of research and potential future areas of development for the telescope from the IAC perspective.

  • On the Dwarf Irregular Galaxy NGC 6822. I. Young, Intermediate, and Old Stellar Populations
We present accurate and deep multiband (g, r, i) photometry of the Local Group dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 6822. The images were collected with wide-field cameras at 2 m/4 m (INT, CTIO, CFHT) and 8 m class telescopes (Subaru) covering a 2 deg 2 field of view across the center of the galaxy. We performed point-spread function photometry of ≍7000 CCD

  • Observations with KIDs Interferometer Spectrum Survey (KISS)
We describe the preliminary on-sky results of the KIDs Interferometer Spectrum Survey (KISS), a spectral imager with a 1 deg field of view (FoV). The instrument operates in the range 120-180 GHz from the 2.25m Q-U-I JOint TEnerife telescope in Teide Observatory (Tenerife, Canary Islands), at 2 395m altitude above sea level. Spectra at low

  • New Theoretical Period-Luminosity-Metallicity Relations for RR Lyrae in the Rubin-LSST Filters
The revolutionary power of future Rubin-LSST observations will allow us to significantly improve the physics of pulsating stars, including RR Lyrae. In this context, an updated theoretical scenario predicting all the relevant pulsation observables in the corresponding photometric filters is mandatory. The bolometric light curves are based on a

  • MUSSES2020J: The Earliest Discovery of a Fast Blue Ultraluminous Transient at Redshift 1.063
In this Letter, we report the discovery of an ultraluminous fast-evolving transient in rest-frame UV wavelengths, MUSSES2020J, soon after its occurrence by using the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) mounted on the 8.2 m Subaru telescope. The rise time of about 5 days with an extremely high UV peak luminosity shares similarities to a handful of fast blue

  • Multicomponent scalar dark matter at high-intensity proton beam experiments
We study a scalar dark matter (DM) model with two DM species coupled to the standard model (SM) particles via a sub-GeV dark photon. In this model, we find that DM conversion occurs through the dark photon and it plays a fundamental role in setting the observed relic abundance. Furthermore, the two DM candidates can be produced at fixed-target
