Dark galaxies in the Local Group

Image of the dark matter distribution of the Local Group in a numerical simulation of galaxy formation and evolution from the HESTIA project. The colour map represents the density of dark matter, with the brightest regions being the densest. In the centre of the image, the dark matter halos corresponding to the Milky Way and Andromeda can be seen. The white squares indicate the locations of the dark galaxies found in the simulation, which are rich in dark matter and therefore visible in this image.
