The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the TLP Tenerife, the largest technology and new trends event in the Canary Islands, join forces to offer a unique experience that fuses science, digital culture and fun.

From 3 to 8 September, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Exhibition Centre will become the perfect setting where attendees, as well as sharing hobbies and enjoying video games, esports, manga and Asian culture through music and dance, and board games, will be able to learn about the mysteries of the universe.

In this edition, the IAC and TLP Tenerife have designed a series of activities to bring astronomy closer to and encourage a passion for science and technology. By combining scientific outreach with the latest trends, this alliance seeks to inspire new vocations and awaken curiosity for the universe.

Visitors will be able to experience the thrill of contemplating the Sun up close, in a safe and fun way, thanks to solar telescopes and explanations from expert astrophysicists from the IAC's COSMOLab project, in collaboration with the Innovation, Research and Development area of the Cabildo of Tenerife. These solar observation sessions will be offered on the terrace of the Lan Party area (Wednesday from 12:00 to 14:00) and in the Summer Con area (Thursday and Friday, from 12:00 to 14:00).

The IAC, in collaboration with Volcano Teide, will also organise guided tours of the Teide Observatory for 20 people, a unique opportunity to get to know one of the most important astronomical observatories in the world up close.

In addition, this year through the social networks of TLP Tenerife and the IAC, a marathon will be held where creativity and humour will go hand in hand. The 20 best memes and stickers will be rewarded with a visit to the Teide Observatory.

Throughout the six days, impressive photographs of the cosmos captured from the Observatories of the Canary Islands will adorn the venue through the screens of TLP Tenerife, transporting attendees to the far reaches of the universe.

‘This collaboration is an unbeatable opportunity to share our passion for science and technology with a wide and diverse audience. We want TLP Tenerife attendees to be inspired by the beauty and complexity of the universe,’ says Valentín Valentín Martínez Pillet, director of the IAC.

Representatives of TLP Tenerife emphasise their satisfaction that the IAC is participating in this year's edition and that astronomy, a source of fascination and knowledge, is so present in the programme of activities.

TLP Tenerife is the benchmark event in the Canary Islands for lovers of technology, entertainment and new trends. For 15 editions, it has brought together thousands of people passionate about the digital world who share hobbies, compete, come into contact with the latest trends and learn about the latest developments. Esports, K-pop, Cosplay, crafts, board games, video games... The different themed areas of the event coexist to create a unique and attractive meeting for all types of public, with tournaments, competitions, merchandising, training and much more.
