A delegation from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the National Astronomical Observatory of China (NAOCC) have visited the Headquarters of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) in La Laguna, and the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (Garafía, La Palma) to get to know at first hand the installations and the projects being developed at both sites, in the framework of the study for the incorporation of China as a member of the Canary Island Observatories.

The delegation comprised Tao ZHANG, a vice-president of the CAS, Xiaonian ZHENG, Director of the Office of Support to Facilities and the Budget of the CAS, Gang ZENG, Division Director of the same department, Yongtao ZHENG, secretary of the General Office of the CAS, Xiaofeng LU, programme manager of the Division of European Affairs within the Office of International Cooperation, Chaoying MA, director of the Department of Industrial High Technology in the China International Egnineering Consulting Corpration, Gang ZHAO. Director of the NAOC, Jifeng LIU, vice-Director of the NAOC, and Yanchun LIANG, director of the Department of International Cooperation of the NAOC.

    The President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, visited the IACTEC facilities this Friday, the technological and business collaboration space of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), to gain first-hand knowledge of the projects being developed and to give his support to the work underway.
