This phenomenon will be visible from the southern hemisphere, and just at our dawn will be visible from the northern hemisphere at mid-latitude. The STARS4ALL project will broadcast it live from the Teide Observatory (Izaña, Tenerife) and from the Observatori Astronòmic d’Albanyà (Girona).

Ivan Oteo, a former student of the University of La Laguna and of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias led the international team which made the discovery. Until now astronomers thought that these phenomena occurred 3,000 million years after the Big Bang, but this new result shows that they were already happening when the Universe was 1,500 million years old.

Organized by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) and the Department of Finance of the Government of the Canaries, this exhibition brings to the public all the technological development projects of Astrophysics in the Islands which have been funded via the European Fund of Regional Development (FEDER)

The best time to observe them will be on Sunday April 22nd, after midnight local time. The STARS4ALL project will transmit them in real time from the Teide Observatory (Izaña, Tenerife).

The première will be in the Gran Telescopio de Canarias, and there will be two special showings, one in the University of La Laguna, and the other in the Museum of Science and the Cosmos.

The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) are collaborating in Astrofest La Palma 2018, a big festival of events organized by the Department of Tourism of the Island Cabildo of La Palma, whose aim is to highlight the quality of the sky on the “beautiful island”.
