  • Surfactant role of (TM)Sb in MOVPE growth of metamorphic InGaAs graded buffers
We present a virtual substrate for high quality InAs epitaxial layer, obtained via metalorganic vapor-phase epitaxy growth of Sb-assisted InxGa1-xAs metamorphic buffers, following a convex compositional continuous gradient of the In content from x = 53 % to 100 %. The use of Trimethylantimony (or its decomposition products) as a surfactant was

  • Study of the orientation of the Bronce age temple of Pella, Jordan.
We present an analysis of the orientation measurements of the Bronze Age Temple of Pella, took by the authors on the field in winter 2011. The site, famous for its huge ancient Roman ruins, had revealed on its lower acropolis the remains of a large sacred building, constructed in the 19th century BC during the Middle Bronze Age, that was

  • Spatially resolved physical and chemical properties of the planetary nebula NGC 3242
Aims: Optical integral-field spectroscopy was used to investigate the planetary nebula NGC 3242. We analysed the main morphological components of this source, including its knots, but not the halo. In addition to revealing the properties of the physical and chemical nature of this nebula, we also provide reliable spatially resolved constraints that

  • Shock Excited Molecules in NGC 1266: ULIRG Conditions at the Center of a Bulge-dominated Galaxy
We investigate the far infrared (IR) spectrum of NGC 1266, a S0 galaxy that contains a massive reservoir of highly excited molecular gas. Using the Herschel Fourier Transform Spectrometer, we detect the 12CO ladder up to J = (13-12), [C I] and [N II] lines, and also strong water lines more characteristic of UltraLuminous IR Galaxies (ULIRGs). • Serendipitous detection of an overdensity of Herschel-SPIRE 250 μm sources south of MRC 1138-26
We report the serendipitous detection of a significant overdensity of Herschel-Spectral and Photometric Imaging Receiver 250 μm sources in the vicinity of MRC 1138-26. We use an adaptive kernel density estimate to quantify the significance, including a comparison with other fields. The overdensity has a size of ˜3.5-4 arcmin and stands out at ˜5σ

  • Searching for chemical inhomogeneities in open clusters. Analysis of the CN and CH molecular band strengths in NGC 2158, NGC 2420, NGC 2682, NGC 7789, and Berkeley 29
Context. The total mass of a cluster, which is the main parameter determining its ability to host more than one stellar generation, may constitute a threshold below which the cluster is able to form only a single stellar population. Aims: Our goal is to investigate the existence of star-to-star variations in CN and CH band strengths, which are
