  • Extinction Mapping of the Bipolar Outflow NGC 2346
We have acquired narrowband imaging of NGC 2346 in the transitions H I λ6563 and λ4861 and [O III] λ5007. As a result, we are able to evaluate the variation of both excitation and extinction over the projected central parts of the nebular shell. Extinction appears to be surprisingly uniform, and there is (in particular) little evidence for the

  • Electric Field Induced Phase Transition in KDP Crystal Near Curie Point: Raman and X-ray Scattering Studies
X-ray scattering measurements are performed in order to verify % that the mechanism leading to the DC electric field induced $C_{2v}^{19} o C_{2v}^{ eq 19}$ phase transition in KDP crystal at 119 K is the changing of the local sites symmetries of phosphate group from $C_2$ in the $C_{2v}^{19}$ phase to $C_s$ in the $C_{2v}^{ eq 19}$ phase. It is

  • DDO 187: Do Dwarf Galaxies Have Extended, Old Halos?
If dwarf galaxies are primeval objects in the universe, as hierarchical galaxy formation scenarios predict, they should show traces of their old stellar populations, perhaps distributed in extended, differentiated structures. The working hypothesis that such a structure could exist is tested for the case of DDO 187, a field, dwarf irregular galaxy

  • CO content of bipolar planetary nebulae
We report high-sensitivity millimeter-wave CO observations of recently discovered bipolar planetary nebulae (PNe). Three objects (BV 5-1, K 3-94 and K 3-24) have been detected, and one of them (BV 5-1) is resolved by the ~ 10{''} telescope beam. The envelopes of the three newly detected objects display values of the molecular to ionized mass ratio
