  • Stellar integrated fluxes for 216 stars in the wavelength range 380 nm-900 NM
The paper reports measurements of the integrated fluxes over the wavelength range 380 nm - 900 nm for 216 stars using a Reticon spectrometer in conjunction with the 1 m Kapteyn telescope of the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias. Methods are proposed for deriving visible integrated fluxes from 13

  • Photometric study of ER VUL
The authors present simultaneous UBVRI and infrared JHKL light curves of the short-period RS CVn system ER Vul, and study both the mean level and depths of eclipses. They also point out some peculiar features, present in the light curves over time, which are frequently shown by other RS CVn short-period systems at about the same phase values

  • Nonlinear flows along magnetic flux tubes - Mathematical structure and exact simple wave solutions
The mathematical structure of nonlinear, isentropic longitudinal flows of an ideal magnetohydrodynamic plasma confined to a magnetic flux tube embedded in a quiescent nonmagnetic fluid is investigated. Exact analytical solutions are derived for a special type of nonlinear flow in the absence of gravity: the simple waves, for which all the unknowns

  • Non-local thermodynamic equilibrium line profiles, rotation, and magnetic fields in seven DA white dwarfs
Non-LTE calculations of H-alpha line profiles are presented and applied to derive rotational velocities from high-resolution spectra of DA white dwarfs. This paper extends recent work by Pilachowski and Milkey (1984, 1987) to southern hemisphere objects and confirms their findings that all white dwarfs seem to be slow rotators. Of the seven objects
