November 14th marks World Diabetes Day, a significant date for our research group due to the high impact of this disease in the Canary Islands, one of the regions with the highest prevalence of diabetes in Spain.
In this context, capturing thermal images of the soles of the feet allows us to expand our database and contribute to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in collaboration with the international medical technology community. These tools are being designed to improve non-invasive diagnosis of foot diseases.
We are looking for volunteers, no need to have diabetes, who are willing to participate in this study by allowing us to take thermal images of their feet. This process is completely harmless and non-invasive, similar to taking a photograph. The images will form part of a database and, after being fully anonymized, will be shared for scientific research purposes.
This type of imaging is already helping improve the tools under development for non-invasive diagnosis of foot conditions.
If you're interested in participating, please don’t hesitate to contact the TecMed team. You’ll just need to fill out a short form, and an appointment will be scheduled for you to meet with us.
We look forward to seeing you at the IACTEC building, located within the Science and Technology Park of Las Mantecas, 38320 La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, at your assigned time.
