Studies of the cosmic background radiation, investigations of the physics of the interstellar medium and of external galaxies, and ionic line detection are proposed. Technological developments such as heterodyne techniques are discussed.

A Copernicus spectrum of the early-type supergiant Beta Ori, extending from 1010 to 1440 A with 0.2-A resolution and from 1710 to 3215 A with 0.4-A resolution, is described.
