  • Feasibility and conceptual study of the thermometers read-out chain and thermal control of the MHFT European telescopes of LiteBIRD.
The main scientific goal of this project is the design of the read-out and thermal control system for the medium and high frequency telescopes (MHFT) of LiteBIRD, a JAXA-led space mission, currently in phase A, with launch expected for 2029. LiteBIRD will scan the sky from the second Lagrange point for 3 years, with the goal to produce an extremely

  • NanoFull: Fullerene- and graphene-based molecular nanostructures in circumstellar envelopes
NanoFull is an ambitious interdisciplinary project to: i) understand the process of formation process of fullerene- and graphene-based molecular nanostructures in circumstellar envelopes through the decomposition of "natural" nanoparticles with aromatic and aliphatic composition; ii) detect other forms of carbon in space. Surprisingly, detections

  • Construction of the MEU-PSU unit of the PLATO space mission
The objective of this initiative is to give continuity to the pending tasks in the construction and delivery of the MEU-PSU (Main Electronic Unit - Power Supply Unit) of the PLATO space mission. The main objective of PLATO is the identification and characterization of exoplanetary systems, focused on terrestrial-type planets in the habitable zone

  • Mapping the Universe with Modified Gravity.
The project aims at establishing a pipeline for the generation of galaxy mock catalogs using machine learning techniques. Such catalogs are key for the statistical analysis of forthcoming galaxy redshift surveys, some in which the IC is participating.

  • First detection and characterization of the gas feeding star formation around nearby galaxies observed with MUSE
Using the publicly available cosmological fields of MUSE, we plan to detect the gas that feeds star formation in nearby galaxies. It would be the first time this gas is detected in Ha. The main advantage of using Ha with respect to Lya (used at high redshift) is the possibility of measuring metallicity and, thus, to be able to distinguish between

  • Laser guide star facility for the adaptive optics of GTC
The aim of the Project is to equip the GRAN TELESCOPIO CANARIAS (GTC) Adaptive Optics system (GTCAO) with a Laser Guide Star (LGS) Facility (LGSF), to extend its sky coverage. The GTCAO system will compensate the atmospheric turbulence in the line of sight of the scientific field of view (FOV), allowing GTC to exploit its high spatial resolution
